Good advice Brett. And quite timely and appropriate for me. I recently went to login to my blog and could not. My host has a protection system that uses a firewall to block access to my site if someone tries to login unsuccessfully for 5 times. Someone had and so then I could not. Monitoring would have caught this. I don't know how long my site was blocked by the firewall, but I try to watch it more now that I know that happens. I guess this is something that many people overlook Brett, but you're right, it does need watching. I think many people assume that because hosting companies generally guarantee 99% or better uptime that they are safe. I do monitor my sites and know that all my databases went down three times in the last 2 weeks. They were only down for a short time, but they were down. Yes, it is important to monitor.
