“I have a Niche Website or Blog and need ideas for new pages, posts, or articles. Where do I start?”

This is a question I hear quite often.

There are several ways to find ideas for your niche blogs and today I am going to cover one of those ways that I use to get ideas for my niche blogs.

I’m assuming that you have already done your keyword research, right?

Good, because you are going to need those keywords for what we are going to be doing today.

First off, you need to have an RSS reader. If you don’t have one you can create an account at Google and use their RSS reader. This is actually my preferred method.

Next, if you go to http://news.google.com/ you can take one of those keywords that you have and enter it into the search field and click on the ‘Search News’ button. Google news pulls from over 25,000 news sources so you should not have any problem finding content.

Once your search is complete you can click on the RSS button in the lower left corner and you will be taken to the following page.

Once here it might get a little tricky, but not difficult. Depending on the browser you are using and even the version of the browser, you might get different results. In certain circumstances when you click on ‘Subscribe to this feed’ you will be asked if you want to add this feed to Google Reader. Unfotunately, it doesn’t always happen. Not to worry, because I am going to show you an easy way around this.

First, just copy the address that is in the address bar when you go to the RSS feed page of the news for your keyword.

Once you have the address copied go to your Google reader page http://www.google.com/reader and click on the ‘Add a Subscription’ button.

Then, just paste the link you copied earlier into the form here and press ‘Add’, and that’s it! You just added the feed for your keyword to your Google Reader.

Now anytime a new news story is published that contains your keyword it will be added to your reader and you can browse through these stories anytime you are needing some ideas for a post on your blog or a page on your website. You can even use them as ideas for writing articles to add to the article directories. (Just don’t use them word for word.)

Just go back and do this for each keyword for your niche and you will have an endless supply of ideas to work from.

NOTE: I usually create a folder for each niche site and put all my keyword feeds for that site under those folders. Just keeps it a little more organized.

Tomorrow I will cover another of my favorites ways to get ideas for my niche sites and blogs.
