Why use a WordPress blog for your niche websites?
I’m sure by now you know that WordPress 2.8 was released last night.
Let me explain why this is important.
I personally use a WordPress Blog for every site that I create now. And yes, I said site (not just blog). I have even gone as far as going back to some of my old stale sites and converting them to WordPress as well.
Why?
Because WordPress is such a versatile tool that I can create any type of site that I want. I can create either a static website or a dynamic website or a combination of both. I can create a membership site using the built-in features of WordPress with the addition of a couple of plug-ins. You see, the choice is entirely mine. And all of this can be accomplished from one platform.
Once up and running this site can be edited from any where in the world as long as I have an internet connection. (Heck, you can even do it from most cell phones now!) I don’t even have to have my own
laptop with my ftp software or anything now.
With the release of WordPress 2.8 you can even download and install themes from within WordPress. Plug-ins were already setup this way in WordPress 2.7. Also, if you are knowledgeable in the coding they have even color coded the theme editor to match the way most code editors have worked for years. There are several other new features that are just too numerous to mention.
Another benefit to having a WordPress site is that Google loves these types of sites and with the right combination of plug-ins you can make this even better.
Using Google alerts I know that within 30 minutes of me creating a new post on my blog, that the page has been indexed in Google and is showing up in their search results. Try that with your static pages. Ain’t gonna happen!
So I can hear a lot of you moaning and saying that you don’t know how to setup a WordPress blog. And yes, I know you can use Fantastico in your cPanel if it’s available. But you know what? Every WordPress hacker out on the internet knows how those are setup and can hack them very easily if and when they want to.
So, what are your choices if you don’t know how to setup your WordPress site correctly?
Here are some tools to make your blogging easier:
WordPress Made Easy
This is an ebook with a set of videos that will show you exactly how to setup and maintain your WordPress site. It has just been updated to reflect the changes in WordPress 2.8 (although the sales page doesn’t reflect this yet) and the best part right now is that you can get it for $20 off the normal price.
BTW: The re-introductory price ends Saturday night at midnight eastern!
Your Blog Installed For You!
If you like you can get your WordPress blog completely installed and optimized for you and all you have to do is start posting.

Not only do you learn how to set up your blog without needing Fantastico, you get an experts opinion on which plug ins to use and how to set up your settings. With the thousands of possbile plug ins one could use its a real heads up to get the inside look at what Mike uses on his blogs. That doesn’t mean you have to use what he does, but it’s sure a good place to start.

I for one would listen and use the information that Mike puts out. If he is testing it for himself I would think he would have a better idea about what works and what does not. And yes I agree that setting up a WordPress blog is a lot easier than setting up a website. And I hear that Google likes WordPress blogs more as well.

I agree with you… I am just about only using WP sites from now on. There is the odd simple web site I have that doesn’t use WP, but because of how easy and simple WP is, there is no point for me to spend the time creating new HTML or PHP pages.

I use WordPress for blogs. I have heard before how WordPress is a versatile tool and can be use to create any type of site. I need to look into that for an application for which I need a website and not a blog.

The SEO benefits to using a blog over a static site are another big plus – while sites can get into the ‘Big 3′ search engines, there are a myriad of blog directories and services that only index RSS feeds but still drive a lot of traffic – same with podcasting and video blogging directories.

I love WordPress and hey it’s free. I tried the static way and even with the new HTML editors out there it’s still a pain.
Wordpress has so many features and is very customizable.

No doubt that WordPress is the blog to use. The themes and plugin’s available makes its exceptional.
I’m still using some b2evo blogs (also available through Fantastico) mainly because no conversion is yet available!
